Profile of Naval Maritime Academy, Mumbai:
The Naval Maritime Academy (NAMAC) was setup in 1998 as a non-governmental, welfare project of the Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy. Training in this Academy is therefore commensurate with the high standards of training in the Indian Navy. It is because of this attribute of assured high quality of training that we have been engaged by reputed organizations/companies such as the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Director General of Resettlement (Ministry of Defence), Indian Customs, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (Ministry of Petroleum), Oil and Natural Gas Commission, Transocean, ABAN Offshore and many other shipping companies to provide training for their employees.
The one year Pre Sea training course for deck cadets (affiliated to IMU, Chennai) conducted onboard the ex aircraft carrier Vikrant and all STCW-95 modular courses conducted at NAMAC are approved by the Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport, Govt. of India. The Academy has been awarded ISO 9001:2008 Certification by ABS Quality Evaluations, an ABS Group Company. This Academy is one of the rare maritime training institutes awarded ICRA Grade ‘1’ (Outstanding) for both Pre and Post Sea Training Courses. In the last twelve years, the academy has trained more than 100,000 (One Lac) candidates who are proud seafarers today.
Naval Maritime Academy (NAMAC) is the only Institute in India approved by Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport, Govt. of India to conduct Offshore Safety Courses. These courses are conducted in accordance with publicly available OPITO and OISD standards and guidelines applicable for Offshore Safety Training.
Facilities at Naval Maritime Academy, Mumbai:
Located next to the sea at the southernmost tip of Mumbai, the Academy’s infrastructure includes air-conditioned classrooms fitted with a variety of training aids including LCD projectors, OHPs, dedicated computers and surround sound systems. Simulator based training backed with numerous mock up models and actual equipment is used towards augmenting classroom instructions through an emphasis on demonstration and practical training. This Academy utilises the world class infrastructure of the Indian Navy towards maintaining the highest standards of maritime training and includes
