Profile Of NMA:
 The ships today are highly sophisticated and hence require a highly skilled man power. Unfortunately, the seafarer training world wide has been rather disorganized and of poor quality. To some extent, this has improved with the advent of STCW 95.
This academy came into existence in 1998 as a non-governmental, welfare project of the Western Naval Command of Indian Navy. Hence we conduct the training commensurate with the high standards of training in Indian Navy. It is because of this attribute of assured high quality of training that we have been engaged by reputed organizations/companies such as Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Director General of Resettlement (Ministry of Defence), Indian Customs, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (Ministry of Petroleum), Oil and Natural Gas Commission, MAERSK Offshore Dubai, Tanker Pacific and P & O Cruises and many others to train their employees. We have been awarded ISO 9001:2000 Certification by ‘American Bureau of Shipping’ and our STCW - 95 courses are approved by the Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport, Govt. of India. Till date we have already trained more than 30,000 seafarers.
The academy infrastructure includes air-conditioned classrooms fitted with sophisticated training aids like Simulators, Fire Fighting and Tanker Mockups, Fast rescue boats & Ship Models.
 We have also pioneered the offshore safety training in India. The training includes Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET). The Academy has a highly qualified and experienced faculty of 35 Master Mariners, Chief Engineers and Instructors. In addition, there is an administrative staff of 10 personnel. Consultancy in designing and conduct of STCW and other marine related courses.
