The Background

The humble beginning started way back in the year 1994 when its founder Chairman & Proprietor Late Shyam Sunder Rai with his Twenty Four years of association with medical professionals, established the Marine Medical Clinic. That was an effort to apply the medical standards introduced by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) which was approved by DG Shipping, Govt. of India for the prospective and sailing seafarers, prior to their joining the vessel(s). Mr. Rai’s firm belief was “The sole purpose of starting the clinic was to provide medical service to the seafarers of Indian / Foreign origin.”

Present Position

Four years later, the institute MMC (STI) came into being which adheres to all the norms and regulations contemplated by IMO convention and DGS guidelines and protocols while imparting training to the seafarers. The institute which has its head office at the heart of Mumbai in the fort area. The STCW–95 courses like Medical First Aid (MFA), Elementary First Aid (EFA), Personnel Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR) and Personal Survival Technique (PST) commenced after getting due approval by DG Shipping in 1998. The MMC (STI) has also been approved by DG Shipping for Pre–Sea Training of G.P. Rating and CCMMC (Saloon Rating) at Khardi (East), about 90 km from Mumbai on the Mumbai–Nasik highway (NH–3) in thane district of Maharashtra. The course commenced from January 2009. We got the DGS approval in 1998 to start the STCW–95 courses, we started with MFA and EFA. Subsequently in the year 2000, we introduced two more courses, viz., PSSR and PST. With this strength as our reserve, we undertook to impart Pre–Sea Training for G.P. Ratings and C.C.M.C. at our newly constructed institute at Dalkhan Village, Khardi. Mission & Vision

As we are committed to keep up our high standards and strive to perform still better in future. Recently the DGS has given approval to us to conduct the Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FP&FF) Course as well as of Oil Tanker Familiarisation (OTF) Course and these have commenced. The future plan includes to introduce Chemical Tanker Familiarisation (CTF) Course and Orientation Course in Hotel Management for Degree and Diploma Holders. Future plan also includes Pre – Sea Training for Cadets which will be sponsored by different shipping companies. For which Shipping Companies are being approached.

We are literally inspired by our founder Chairman Late Shri Shyam Sunder Rai whose ideals always motivate us to walk the extra mile for better future.
